It’s all seasonal
“ There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens ” - Ecclesiastes 3:1 The final day of our holiday came like a bolt out of the blue. It shouldn’t have really because we all knew the date of our flight home. However, there is a saying that time flies when you are having fun. We were in the sun, waking up when we wanted, not having to rush to do school runs or catch buses or trains to work. We spent the days having fun, visiting places to lear

Is it well?
It’s the call with the devastating news that stops time. It’s the discovery that you wish you could just cover back up. It’s the betrayal that cuts like a knife. It’s the rejection that keeps you up at night. It’s the hurt and pain that causes nightmares and flashbacks. It’s these life events that rock our soul and send us into states of depression, anxiety and maladaptive behaviours. Life can be beautiful and fun but it can also be very hard with shattered dreams or poverty

It’s not the length of time, it’s the impact
Assignments, assignments, assignments, it’s one of the buzz words in the Christian community. We ask God to show us how He wants to use us. Then we feel we are called by the Holy Spirit to do a particular thing or go to a particular place. Some people clearly hear the Holy Spirit tell them to do those things. The fun thing about God is He deliberately doesn’t give us the whole place, just snippets of instructions. So we go through a range of emotions, do desperate prayers try

Be intentional, not transactional
I heard that in the USA there used to be an announcement that came on TV at night that said something along the lines of “it’s 10pm, do you know where your kids are”. I think it was to remind parents that their children should be home from playing out by 10pm. I’m an 80s baby, 90s kid from the UK, so hearing about this made me think about my childhood and the friends I made by playing out. There would be a knock on the door, then I’d hear little familiar voices asking my mom

Is it like ice cream or water?
I saw someone online use Neapolitan ice cream, as an analogy, to explain the Trinity to someone who isn’t a Christian. If you don’t know what Neapolitan ice cream is, it’s made up of one part chocolate flavour, one part strawberry flavour and one part vanilla flavour. I could kind of see where he was trying to go with this but he was actually explaining partialism which isn't what Christians believe. Christian theologians call partialism heresy, which means it’s a belief that

I’m confused, what’s the difference?
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” . - Philippians 2:13 When we were children, we were all asked the same question “ what do you want to be when you grow up? ” and we would all answer “ when I grow up I’d like to be… ”. When I was a young child I would answer “ when I grow up I’d like to be a lawyer ”. Looking back I didn’t really but I think it was just the first job I thought of. Then in my teens it changed to a social wo

This Suffering
“ I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us ”. Romans 8:18 Music has always been a big part of my life, I would say it was my first love (sorry hubby!). I remember from a young age finding comfort in music, as it allowed me to shut off from the chaotic world around me. I remember music always being played in our house. My music relationship started with reggae being played especially on Sundays. While my mom was

I feel sick
I'm sick of the majority of people being selfish. I’m sick of people being mean and horrible. I’m sick of some people being just plain evil and revelling in it. I’m sick and angry of the stigma around mental health conditions and mental breakdowns. I just want all these people to know they are loved by God even if people judge and dislike them. I’m sick of people manipulating and hurting people and getting away with it. I’m totally sick of transactional “friendships”. It’s a

Don’t do it… He wants you here
Ok lets address the elephant in the room. I’m sorry you went through that- the name calling, the subtle digs and the not so subtle digs, the punches, the kicks and the injuries. I’m sorry for the sitting alone at lunch because no one wanted to hang out with you, for not being invited to the parties because you weren’t cool enough. I’m sorry for the person you really liked only pretended they liked you back. I’m sorry for the guy who made you grow up too quickly. I’m sorry fo

It’s story time!
Ah yes! That age old desire to do something that you know deep down you shouldn’t do. You fight the urge and then do it anyway! Maybe after you feel guilty… or maybe you don’t… Whether you feel guilty or not you probably end up doing it again and it becomes a negative cycle. “ but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death
